Tres Cinco
TLDR: worth it for the vibes but I’ve had better Mexican food in Melb
This restaurant is tucked away in Hosier Lane, so is very cute inside and out. They have a pretty extensive menu, most of which are small share plates.
Overall I though the tacos were good, but the rest of the food was hit or miss.
✨Birria Tacos: these were my favourite of the night, so flavourful and the only Birria tacos I’ve had that I thought were worth the hype. However the consommé they came with was more of a salsa, which I liked but not exactly what you expect. ($21)
✨crab tostadas: these were really cold (I’m guessing on purpose) and tasted too fishy for me so didn’t love it ($20)
✨guacamole: good, I mean it’s guac ($15)
✨taco dorado: deep fried and filled with potato, this would good but not great ($7)
✨fish taco: good, if not a little bland but tbh I find most fish tacos underwhelming ($7.5)
✨pork taco: (not pictured) this was delicious!!! ($7.5)
✨esquite: this was a joke. Look at how soupy it was. I’ve never had esquite like this and The liquid just took away from the flavour of the dish. ($10)
The marg was good too.
Service was really friendly and helpful, but I will say the seating times were really short for the style of food coming up at various times. We would’ve ordered dessert but our booking had ended so we couldn’t, and I truly don’t think we wasted anytime eating/ordering.
Overall it was good to try, some of the food was really stand out great and some was just okay. I would go back again.
