Le Bajo
Finally tried these beautiful Japanese sandwiches that I see all over my feed and they were pretty good!
The venue is the corner of a huge warehouse in north Melbourne, which was a bit random but it’s set up with lots of cute furniture and plants. The staff were all friendly too.
They sell some pre-made baked goods, but we ordered the octopus sandwich, chicken katsu sandwich, miso chips, hojicha chocolate shake, spiced lemonade, and fruit sandwich. The octopus had great flavour but it was incredibly chewy. The katsu sandwhich was also great, a generous amount of chicken and sauce. Both the sandwiches had very little structural integrity though, once you took the paper off they immediately started crumbling. The miso chips were good, but I was expecting a stronger flavour to them. The shake was really delicious and such a perfect thick consistency. Lemonade was good too, wasn’t spiced though just tasted like a yuzu lemonade but I was happy with that. The fruit sandwhich was also great, although the melon was almost impossible to cut through.
All in all I think it’s an adorable venue with a great menu. Of the two katsu sandwiches I’ve tried in Melbourne this is definitely my favourite. It was also pretty busy on a weekday afternoon which is always a good sign. If you want to try these type of sandwiches or love them already I think it’s worth a visit.
