Literally the most insanely delicious banh mi. @cacom.banhmi.bar
No they aren’t the most traditional, yes the store is fancier than a usual Vietnamese bakery, but so what? In the same way that you pay $2 for sushi or $50, the same way you can get a subway for $5 or a deli sandwich for $20, ramen for $2 or $20, all foods have scales and idk why people get so worked up about banh mi. Obviously it’s human nature to want a good deal, but some people over on tik tok got so mad about the banh mi being over $10 and saying it was gentrification. I won’t try to explain the deficits in this type of thinking too much more but would highly recommend searching “the true cost of banh mi” on Google or literally anything similar there are so so many great writings on this.
This banh was incredibly high quality, created by a renowned and successful Vietnamese chef, and worth every damn dollar. If you can spare the money and live nearby I think it’s worth trying. They also do some really cool flavours like jungle sausage and roast pumpkin (which I think had won some awards or something similar). The roast pork was super crispy and not too fatty, but the chicken was my favourite as it had a great kick to it. Highly recommend.
